Our History
Roots in the Community that date back to the 1980’s
When local textile mills began closing in the 1980’s, community members came together to provide help for workers who were left jobless. Two organizations formed to help those in need: The Good Neighbor Pantry (started by what was then the River Hills Lions Club) and the Clover Caring Center. In December 1999, the organizations merged to become Clover Area Assistance Center, a nonprofit charitable organization. Although some of the services have changed, the basic premise has remained the same – To Serve Our Neighbors in Need.
