It is Feast or Famine!
When CAAC has an excess amount of certain items or foods that are highly perishable, larger quantities are offered. When product is low, the amount of food clients are able to take is reduced. CAAC purchases certain staple items when donations are low in an effort to insure availability.
At different times throughout the year, CAAC may offer specialty foods to choose from that are in ADDITION to a person’s regular monthly “shop”. In order to purchase or collect an adequate supply of specialty foods, clients are required to sign-up for these in advance in order to be eligible to participate.
In order to utilize the Full Choice Pantry, individuals must be CAAC clients whose eligibility documentation is current.. A one-time Temporary Food Assist may be given to residents whose paperwork is incomplete .
Full Choice Pantry Needs
Hunger does not take a vacation! For those in our community who are food insecure, the need for supplemental food happens every day. Our number one priority throughout the year is to continuously seek out new partners who can provide us with food and other pantry items. We have experience, ideas, and materials to help individuals, community groups, and churches run successful drives. Let us help you!
Donations of food, toiletry items, paper products (toilet paper and paper towels), and pet food can be made at CAAC anytime during the days that we are open (Monday & Wednesday 9:00 – 5:00 and Thursday 8:00 – 3:00) or by appointment. Additional food drop-off locations include the CSD YMCA and the River Hills Community Association Office in Lake Wylie.
Staple items that are always needed include: canned meats, soups, vegetables, tomato products, pasta, rice, and cereal. Toiletry staples are: toothpaste, bar soap, and shampoo. For a complete list of items needed now, please contact us directly.
